Six unique places in Paris you have to see

If you have never been to Paris before, than there is no question your list of must see places needs to include the iconic Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Sacré-Coeur, the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Élysées and all the other world-famous places (I could continue this list forever).

There are however many other enticing locations that are so unique it would be a shame to miss. And since you won’t be far away from most of the main attractions you will want to see anyway, it will not even cost you a lot of extra time, but definitely make your visit more interesting and fun.

Read on to find out which six locations I recommend you definitely need to include in your Paris itinerary.

Printemps rooftop terrace

Enjoy a fantastic free view over Paris and some of its main attractions heading up to the 8th floor at Printemps, the well-known department store chain located on Boulevard Haussmann 64. During warmer months, you can even sit outside and enjoy some of the gourmet offer also located on the same floor or have drinks in the evening.

La Maison La Gourmande

Just across the street from Printemps on Boulevard Haussmann 107, the amazing La Maison La Gourmande at Galeries Lafayette is an absolute must for all food and wine lovers.

The ground floor is home to a large range of different food stalls, including pastries, bread, chocolate, spices, charcuterie and cheese amongst others.

Head upstairs to the 1st floor and you will find one of the most remarkable wine shops in Paris: Duclot La Cave. Here you will find more than 2,500 labels of excellent wines on 450 sq m, including a huge range of grands vins from Bordeaux, Champagne and other French regions as well as a selection of excellent international wines.

Pont Alexandre III

Not far from Eiffel Tower, Pont Alexandre connects Champs-Élysées with Quay d’Orsay. Built at the end of the 19th century and named after Tsar Alexander III, it is one of the most ornate bridges in the whole of Paris, featuring Art Nouveau lamps, cherubs, nymphs and winged horses.

It is also much less crowded than many other famous sites, so it is a great spot to take some pictures without lots of other people around.

La Maison Rose

Located close to Sacré-Coeur in the amazing Montmartre neighbourhood in 2 Rue de l’Abreuvoir, this place has come to fame lately thanks to Instagram as there is hardly any travel-related account that will not feature this beautiful Parisian landmark at one point or other.

Locally, La Maison Rose is actually looking at a long history of fame as it once was a favourite place for up-and-coming artists, including Pablo Picasso.

Le Consulat

Located also in the Montmartre area in 18 Rue Norvins, just a few steps away from La Maison Rose is one of the best coffee shops in Paris. Both the quality and the exposed location are reflected in the hefty prices but sitting on the terrace of this little gem (weather and space permitting) and observing the huge number of people strolling by at any time of the day is a perfect pass-time. Especially if you have already done a lot of wandering around the steep cobble-stoned streets around Montmartre yourself.

Odette Coffee and Pastry shop

Another absolutely gorgeous location is Odette in Rue Galande. This one is located just a few steps from Notre Dame and the perfect spot to indulge in some coffee and sweets after you have explored the famous cathedral and its surroundings.
