OK, we all know Verona in Italy to be the home of the legendary balcony from Romeo and Juliet . But head to Sevilla’s Plaza Alfaro and you will find a small balcony likewise said to have inspired the famous Shakespeare novel. Whether true or not, it's a little gem and only one of so many when exploring the oldest quarter of Sevilla. The most spectacular part of the extensive garden at Real Alcázar de Sevilla is Galería de Grutescos. Originally built during the Almohad era the then simple wall was transformed into a gallery during 17th century by Vermondo Resta. It’s decorated with fresco paintings by Diego de Esquivel. Enjoy the stunning views over the curated garden and the Giralda from the covered walkway.

If you are planning to visit Sevilla, make it a priority to explore the beautiful Real Alcázar with its various patios and halls and its beautiful garden. An UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, Real Alcázar is one of the oldest palaces in Europe still in use. The upper floor of the palace is still inhabited by the Spanish royal family when they come to visit Sevilla.
