There is nothing wrong with a classic margarita cocktail – but for a tart and fruity twist try this delicious pomegranate margarita

Over here, we have been discussing how many possible variations of the classic margarita cocktail might exist. We did not find a conclusion, or rather the conclusion was, there are nearly unlimited variations. And once you think there can’t be any new version, invariably someone will come up with a new twist.

With all these different variations, at least we ended up agreeing a perfect margarita for each month of the year must exist.

Thus, challenge accepted and here is my own take of the best January Margarita cocktail.

Monthly Margarita Challenge: Pomegranate Margarita Cocktail

While the elegant look and bright red colour makes the cocktail also work well for the holiday season, with winter in full swing in January, and pomegranates still in season until February in the northern hemisphere, for me a pomegranate margarita is the perfect cocktail to be enjoyed for an apres-ski. Just imagine yourself sitting in a chic rustic mountain bar, sipping on this cocktail after a day on the slopes. Don’t you agree it would be just perfect?

The pomegranate juice adds a light and refreshing twist, and perfectly enhances the classic sweet, tart, and sour flavour profile of the cocktail.

Add all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds. Pour into the prepared margarita glass either pure or over ice. Garnish with a lime wheel and pomegranate seeds.
