Go all in with a lucky green cocktail on St. Patrick’s Day or any other day this Spring.

Perhaps tiny old man in green coats won’t be the first thing on your mind when it comes to Ireland. But the legendary Leprechaun remains a much-celebrated figure in Irish culture.

Their tale starts in the 8th century, and legend has it, leprechauns are the offspring of water spirits called luchorpán (meaning small body) and a household fairy. Apparently, they also were heavy drinkers, so no cellar was safe.

If Ireland is on your bucket list, watch out for these tiny little creatures. They are associated with wealth and said to hide gold coins in a pot of gold hidden at the end of a rainbow. And if you are lucky to catch a leprechaun, you will be given three wished provided you let him go!

Your best change to find one apparently would be the Carlingford’s Sliabh Foy Loop trail, an area protected under the European Habitats Directive due to the fact the 236 leprechauns that live in Ireland are calling this place their home.

No plans to visit Ireland shortly, or don’t believe in fairy tales?

Then why don’t you simply go for a lucky green cocktail instead?

It’s the perfect drink when you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day but it’s likewise great for any other occasion. Particularly now that the days are getting longer and warmer again, which calls for pre-dinner drinks on the patio.
