No fan of tomato juice? Make it a Carrot Bloody Mary. This play on the classic cocktail adds a touch of sweetness but retains the drink’s characteristic savoury flavour.

Do you believe the Blood Mary cocktail to be a remedy for hangover, as it’s widely claimed?

Personally, I am not convinced a boozy drink will cure that feeling when you had one or more drinks too much the evening before. But I must acknowledge, it is one of the most popular brunch cocktails.

Carrot Bloody Mary: A Fun Twist On The Classic Brunch Cocktail

A classic Bloody Mary is undeniably an invigorating and nutritious cocktail, and it is certainly an eye-catcher if presented with the traditional heavy garnish. What I’m always struggling with is tomato juice. And since I’ve never been a fan of tomato juice, I’ve never been a huge fan of the Bloody Mary.

Which thankfully is not a problem. Like all classic recipes, many variations of the Bloody Mary have emerged over time. For example, swapping vodka with tequila (Bloody Maria) or gin (Red Snapper). Though both variations still lean on tomato juice as the main ingredient.

Why you will love the Carrot Bloody Mary

A classic Bloody Mary is made with tomato juice, vodka, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, celery salt, Tabasco and lemon juice.

If like me, you are not overly fond of tomato juice, this twist of the classic Bloody Mary will be right up your sleeve.  Also called Bunny Mary (because carrot juice), it retains the characteristic earthy, savoury flavour of the classic Bloody Mary while the carrot juice adds a touch of natural sweetness and a slightly thinner consistency.
