Easy-to-prepare sweet iced tea cocktail recipes you will love
Scorching summer temperatures like we are currently experiencing across Europe definitely call for a refreshing drink.
Iced tea is always a good idea to stay fresh and hydrated during the day. Even better, it is also a perfect base ingredient for a refreshing pre-dinner cocktail. You only need to add a bid of booze and you are ready to kick-off your evening or summer party.
So the next time you make a pot of iced tea, just make a bit more to keep in your fridge for one of these tasty, refreshing summer cocktails.
Iced single malt peach tea
This iced single malt peach tea is a real refresher and easy to make.
Originally created by Beam, Inc.’s Master Mixologist Bobby Gleason, it only requires three ingredients and is mixed up in a few minutes (considering you have prepared your contingent of iced tea beforehand).
The original recipe calls for Canadian Whisky, but honestly you can use any good whisky you have at hand.
Serves one:
30 ml whisky
30 ml peach liqueur
120 ml black iced tea
Lemon wedge to garnish
In a highball glass, pour iced tea over ice, then add whisky and peach liqueur. Stir briefly and garnish with a lemon wedge.
Scotch iced tea
This one is another quick-and-easy cocktail mixing with whisky. In fact, it is a slightly zestier variation of the iced peach tea thanks to a splash of limoncello.
If you follow my blog, you will know I like to mix with limoncello. Check out my post Getting creative with limoncello and dreaming of the Amalfi Coast to get some inspiration and learn how to make your own limoncello at home.
Serves one:
120 ml black iced tea
45 ml whisky
15 ml limoncello
Lemon wedge to garnish
In a glass, combine whisky and limoncello, then fill ice into the glass and top with iced tea.
Iced tea gin cocktail
If like me, you like gin cocktails, you definitely need to try this one.
Serves one:
175 ml black iced tea
30 ml gin
30 ml freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
15 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tablespoon simple syrup
Lemon wedge to garnish
To make the simple syrup, use one part sugar and one part water. Bring to boil, then set aside and let cool.
For the cocktail, pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker over ice. Shake well for about 20 seconds, then strain into a cocktail class over fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon wedge.
Iced citrus gin green tea
And here is another iced tea gin cocktail for all the gin and tonic lovers out there. This one is made with green tea and gets quite a boost of citrus flavour from freshly squeezed lemon and lime juice.
Serves one:
120 ml iced green tea
30 ml gin
1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
Fill a glass with ice, add mint leaves, gin and juices, then top up with iced tea. To garnish, add some more mint leaves and a lemon wedge.
Iced hibiscus tea margarita
There is quite a lot in this drink that appeals to me. First off, I definitely can’t say no to a nice margarita cocktail. Second, I like mixing with hibiscus as I like the slightly tard taste it adds. Finally, it also adds a nice touch of colour to any drink.
Serves one:
120 ml iced hibiscus tea
15 ml freshly squeezed lime
30 ml tequila
1 tablespoon agave syrup
Lime wedge to garnish
Add all ingredients in a cocktail shaker over ice. Shake vigorously.
Strain into a glass filled with fresh ice and garnish with a lime wedge.
Iced tea prosecco
No list of cocktails is ever complete if not including at least one using some type of bubbles. Plus, there is also a bit of gin involved here.
Serves one:
90 ml black iced tea
2 tablespoons simple sirup
30 ml gin
15 ml Cointreau
15 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
Prosecco
Lemon wedge to garnish
In a glass over ice, mix up iced tea, simple sirup, gin, Cointreau and lemon juice. Stir gently to combine, then top up with the prosecco. Garnish with a lemon wedge.
